Stock Quotes - Adding/Watching a stock
Stocks
may be added by selecting the New button from the bottom of
the main screen. On selecting
New a form similar to that shown on the right will be
displayed allowing you to enter the details of the stock you wish to
add. If you wish to edit a stock that you are already monitoring
select the symbol of the stock on the main
screen; again the form shown on the right will be displayed.
To add the stock simply enter the details for the stock as follows
and select the OK button:
Exchange. Stock exchange that the stock is listed on
Symbol. Symbol for the stock to be added. If you do
not know the symbol, these can be looked up on the Yahoo
finance web site.
Quantity. Number of shares
you hold in this stock. If you are simply watching the share price
on this item, leave this field as 0.
Tot. Cost. Enter the total
price paid for the quantity of shares you hold, including fees and
commission. This is used for calculating the profit.
Dividends. Enter the total
amount of the dividends you have received (not the dividend per
share). This is used for calculating the profit.
Last.
You may enter the last price for the share or leave this and let
Stock Quotes update the price from the Internet.
Towards the bottom
of the stock entry screen some extra details of the stock are
displayed, including the change in price since the previous trading
day (if known), the value of your holdings in the stock, the average
price you have paid for each share, and the profit you have made on
this holding.
Alerts on stocks may be
configured using the Alerts... button at the bottom of the
screen.
